The paramedic program is an 1160-hour course that includes 660 hours of classroom/lab and 500 hours of field and clinical experience. The curriculum for the Paramedic educational program shall be the most current release of the National EMS Education Standards. Student prerequisites: A) Successful completion of an EMT educational program with current credentials. B) High school diploma or high school equivalent; C) Reading comprehension and English language skills and mathematical skills on the post-secondary level demonstrated with approved placement test unless the candidate has completed a college degree. D) Anatomy and Physiology (Minimum EMS 3163, BIO 163, BIO 165/166, or BIO 168/169). The course includes a clinical component.

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College offers three paramedic course options at present: 1) Academy model meeting 4 days weekly; 2) Daytime program meeting two times weekly; and 3) Night program meeting two times weekly.
